In the city of Fort Worth, we have over 64% of our children unable to read on grade level and only 13% of our high school students scoring high enough on the SAT and ACT to be considered college, career or military ready. In the Fort Worth Independent School District alone only 37% of 3rd grade students are reading on grade level. Imagine, out of every ten 3rd grade students, only 3 are meeting reading standards.

As a parent, knowing your child's reading level can give you important information so you can make the best decisions about your child. This summer, join Parent Shield Fort Worth to learn more about literacy and your child's reading level. In a short amount of time, your child will receive a literacy check-up from a trained professional and as a parent, learn more about literacy, how reading is taught and what you can do from Parent Shield team members.
